Yes, the iPhone was unveiled and everybody's been talking about it ever since. For one whole day people could not stop talking about how wonderful it is…And then, after a good night’s sleep, the fellows mentioned before spent another whole day talking about how much it sux.
Firstly, this proves that people will jump up immediately and praise (like a bunch of confused little girls) whatever is highly rumored, advertised, or simply released by some important company. And then, when they're all bored with praising it, they turn to the second most entertaining thng to do, digg up for flaws. Personally, I think that all this ‘iPhone sux’ thing is total crap, but that's just my opinion and if you stop and think about it, you might end up agreeing, or not.
Furthermore, I know that people had high hopes regarding this phone, and thought it would be perfect from all points of view, especially after the launch of the N95, which is said to be great (although that was said before regarding Nokia phones and they turned out to be quite slow and lame). And now that they found out that it’s not perfect (because perfection does not exist. Duh!) suddenly the phone sux .
The saddest part is that they didn’t even stop to think about it, when they came with 5 reasons (at least) why the iPhone sux. Because, see, according to them, the iPhone shoulda packed much more than a 2 megapixel camera, simply because some phones have 5 megapixel ones. And, heck, there I thought the iPhone was a music phone. Ya know! An iPod turned into a phone, not a digicam, or both. And even if I'm wrong, and the IPhone was not meant to be only a music phone, more megapixels does not equal better photo quality.
Secondly, the iPhone provides only 5 hours worth of talk time, which is so lame comparing to the 2 hours and 45 minutes the newly released N76 provides, or the 5 hours the HTC TyTn sports (and keep in mind that this handheld mainly targets business users who actually NEED to talk, comparing to other people). Now the N93i also beats the crap out of the iPhone with 3 hours and 30 mins of talk time…now that’s a good phone. I can't possibly agree, because, generally, a big bright touch screen meens lower talk time. It's a compromise, yes, but then again I believe that everybody has a place that they call home (or work, or several other places), where they can charge their phone from time to time. Can you seriously tell me that you can own a high-tech mobile phone, but can't manage to find a plug in order to charge it?
Reason number three. No expansion slot. While I agree that more storage space is always appreciated, and people will actually want to view movies on this phone, how many mobile phones can you think of that offer more than 8Gigs? Yes, I know, one, two, maybe three. Fourth reason? No 3G. First off, as someone (can’t really remember who) announced, less than 1% of Cingular users actually have HSPDA capability. So since, at first, the IPhone will be released on Cingular ONLY, who’d ya reckon would actually need 3G? You? Are you on Cingular? No? Great, then no IPhone for you.
Yep, it’s also true that the Iphone might actually be available for others in the future, not only Cingular customers, and guess what, Apple is apparently cooking up a 3G version for them too. The only thing that actually bothers me as well, is the fact that you can’t remove the phone’s battery, which is pretty common among Apple products. Now that actually sux and I totally agree that you should complain. So maybe they should fix that, and if they don’t, it will be a major inconvenience. But hey, they’ve had a dozen good ideas and just a bad one.
Anyway, why the same people who praised the iPhone continuously after its release, now suddenly think it sucks, is beyond my understanding. And I’m not even trying to understand, really. The iPhone was released a couple of days ago and it's not even final. They have plenty of time to figure everything out. Also, this is not the ultimate phone that will provide everything you'll ever need. It will not grind your coffee, it will not serve you beer, it will not hug you or drive your car. So just add all this to 'the reasons why iPhone sux' list while you're at it.
There are also several reasons why the iPhone does not suck: great screen, awesome design, 8Gb internal memory and there are others as well. But I'm not going to talk on and on about how great it is(although at first sight it's mindblowing), because you can't really trully say something about this phone until you've used it. In the end, the phone might be better by the time it starts shipping. Or not. But I don’t see anyone saying how crappy all the other phones in the U.S. and Europe are. Now why is that?
