Looks like Samsung is currently attempting world domination, at least when it comes to mobile phone innovation. You see, it’s mainly because of them and their ultra-slim LCD that we can find all those oh-so-slim mobile phones, and it’s completely their ‘fault’ that all other manufacturers have joined in the game and produced slimmer phones as well.
And they won’t stop at that either, because some people out there seem to be into double LCD phones, and Samsung has to try and beat everyone at that as well. They have now announced a double-sided LCD for mobile phones that is completely capable of producing independent images on each of its two sides. And because this new LCD can replace two display panels that obviously brings to even slimmer mobile phones.
So if you’re not currently happy with your already very slim mobile phone, you can get a new one, even slimmer and with a double-sided LCD. Now how nice is that? Moving on to the technical aspect, the LCD is 2.6 mm thick and has a QVGA resolution, and it will be exhibited at the CES 2007. Did I mention it also cuts the cost of making thin phones? So, slimmer and cheaper mobiles? Nah, I won’t believe it till I see it, whenever they’ll decide to include this thing in a cell.
