You can now find the Sharp 770SH special edition phone, wrapped up in the silver, black and red McLaren Mercedes colors.
Which really makes me wonder whether anyone would actually buy such a phone, because it’s not like releasing a mobile phone of this type is actually new or useful in anyway for anyone, well, at least not from my point of view. It has been done several times, the perfect example being the Sirocco that comes with various brandings, including Aston Martin and Lamborghini. So do people want this kind of phone, and are they really willing to pay more, provided the phone might cost more (and in some cases it does), for a change of color or slight change of looks? On the other hand, the Sharp 770SH, Mclaren edition or not, is a pretty decent handset with 3G capabilities, a 262k color screen with a QVGA resolution, video and mp3 playback and a 1.3 megapixel cam. With a 5MB internal memory, it’s also no wonder that the phone actually features a MiniSD card slot, because to be honest, I can’t imagine what you could do with 5MB worth of memory on a phone that supports Mp3 files. The phone clearly isn't suited for a more advanced user but would be a great choice for the less pretentious. And while I’m not exactly sure what type of user a special edition phone like this one targets, if you stop to check the Vodafone website, it seems that the 770SH MacLaren edition is already available to the public, for 60 euros on a contract.
