Now i know you've all heard of Sony Ericsson's P990, but how many people out there can honestly say that they have heard of the Suny Ericssom P999? Probably very few. That's because the phone is close to nonexistent when you google it and yet another proof that Chinese manufacturers can gather up what they like, add what they do best to produce a mobile phone that at first sight is a re-vamped version of another phone already present on the market.
But if you stop to think about it, at least in this case, the Chinese have borrowed and modified Sony Ericsson's name as well as their design, and while the phone does look like a Sony Ericsson, it doesn't resemble any existing model.
Actually, the phone is quite surprising, and we can even go as far as saying that the manufacturer did a better job at designing it than Sony Ericsson themselves would have managed to do.
The features aren't all that bad either. The P999 comes with a pretty huge 3.1 inch 256k color screen, 4 speakers and a 2 megapixel camera with video recording capabilities. While its not clear how large the internal memory is, rest assured that you can store a pretty decent amount of files on a memory card, due to the fact that the P999 is also equipped with a MicroSD card slot.
Also, this is the first time we can say that Chinese phones are cheap and actually be happy about it. If Sony Ericsson doesn't quite meet your needs, maybe Suny Ericssom P999 will, at $197, available with either english or chinese user interface.
