Japanese Kids Will No Longer Skip School or be abducted by ALIENS

Publicat de Sapphire Thursday, January 11, 2007

Why am I writing about this? Because it’s funny and because kids from all around the world will now be thankful that they don’t live in Japan. The country’s government has recently decided that the best way to protect children from…um, well.. something (ALIEN ABDUCTION maybe???) is to incorporate a RFID tag into their mobile phones.

RFID tags have been used before, attached to or included in various devices, animals and people and can be identified by using radio waves, so basically, each time the child, using a mobile phone that's outfitted with the tag, passes the RFID readers that the government is planning to place at school gates and other locations, parents and teachers will know that their young ones are in peril or up to no good.

Yes, it’s true, parents want to keep their kids safe, but is this the only way to do it? One thing’s for sure, kids will never be able to skip school again, and every time their parents are notified that their kids are out of safe areas, they’ll be just one step away from a heart attack.

Over and over again, Japanese parents, mobile phone manufacturers and others interested in the matter, have come up with various ways to track down kids and supposedly keep them safe, but up until know kids have been known to survive without all the gadgets and phone call limitations. The Japanese Government will apparently spend a whopping $10 million in order to trial this system, which is a perfectly good waste of money if you ask me.
